China's Peng reaches U.S. Open fourth round

China's Peng Shuai, seeded 13, edged off 19th seed Julia Goerges of Germany 6-4, 7-6 (1), advancing into the last 16 of U.S. Open on Friday.

Peng, who reached the fourth round in both the Australia Open and Wimbledon, extended her hot form and accomplished personal best at the Flushing Meadow, eliminating her first three opponents all in straight sets.

Peng was broken at the opening game, but returned two breaks as the match moved on to win the first set in 6-4. Read more »

China's Peng Shuai reaches last 16 at Wimbledon

China's Peng Shuai defeated Melinda Czink from Hungary 6-2, 7-6(5) on Saturday to reach the women's singles last 16 at Wimbledon Championships for the first time.

Peng equalled her best-ever Grand Slam performance, having made the fourth round at this year's Australian Open, in an assured display on the Court 18. Peng was the only remaining Chinese in the singles after French Open winner Li Na was beaten by Germany's Sabine Lisicki and Zheng Jie went out to Japanese qualifier Misaki Doi in the second round.
