Murray and Gasquet advance in Monte Carlo MastersFinally, Scottish world 5th-ranked Andy Murray managed a convincing victory by beating Czech Radek Stepanek 6-1 6-4 in his debute of clay court, ending a career-nadir run of loss streak. The 23-year old genius set up a third-round meeting with 16th-seeded Gilles Simon, who trimumphed over Albert Montanes of Spain 6-3, 6-4.

Murray played well and dominated the match in the very beginning. We hope Murray has recalled his confidence and will performance better and better, even the clay court is not his favorite surface.

Gasquet put out Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-2, 6-1 in the second round and will challenge the clay court specialist Rafael Nadal in the next round. Just like Gasquet said in the post-game press, he has nothing to lose and what he must do is just stay relaxed.

Nadal also recalled one of their encounter in a semi-final in Monte Carlo in 2005, when they had a though match and Gasquet was close to beat Nadal.

The ATP 21st-ranked Richard Gasquet withdrew from the first round of Davis Cup on Austria this weekend. The problem of the Frenchman is his right shoulder which has induced his exit at last week’s Dubai semifinal.

Earlier, France captain Guy Forget had to leave No. 11 Gael Monfils (hand injury) and No. 17 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (groin injury) out of his squad.

Forget said Tuesday:

"It's going to be a tough match."

"Even for us as last year's finalists, every match is a great challenge, no matter if it's the final or the first round ... All teams are good, you can't expect any easy matches."

But, Austrian did not expect much of an advantage from the opponent's injury worries.

Austria's No. 1 player Jurgen Melzer responsed:

"We know how strong France still is,"

 "It's just Monfils who is really lacking. We'll see how the others handle it."

Richard Gasquet through to semifinal at Dubai Open

Gasquet, Dubai, quarterfinals, SimonFrenchman Richard Gasquet defeated his close friend Gilles Simon 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 in the night’s last match after a little more than 2 hours on court, and became the only unseeded player among the top three in the semi-finals of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.

Top-seed Roger Federer who earned a straight sets over Sergiy Stakhovsky with a 6-3,6-4 scoreline will be Gasquet’s opponent in today’s second semifinal . We hope to have a wonderful battle just like in Monte Carlo 2005.

The other semifinal will feature second seed and reigning two-time champion Djokovic and third seed Berdych on centre court today.

Novak Djokovic struggles in Dubai second round

Novak Djokovic, Dubai, 2011, quarterfinalsNovak Djokovic, the defending champion of Dubai tennis championships, battles a three-set match to defeat Feliciano Lopez 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 in the second round and reaches into the quarterfinals.  Although the match was almost thrilling, the Serb shows us some wonderful pictures taken in Dubai.

Richard Gasquet is also among the winners by beating wild card Sergei Bubka 6-2, 7-5. Gasquet will face compatriot Gilles Simon and  set up an all-French quarterfinal clash. "I'm happy because I won two matches ," said Gasquet. "I know physically I have to be better." And I am also glad to see him in the right direction and hope him achieving his career-high as soon.
