Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer both posted dominate victory at at the BNP Paribas Open, easily reaching quarterfinals on Tuesday.

2011 Australian Open champion Djokovic, who was in imperious form this year, posted a dominate victory over Ernests Gulbis 6-0, 6-1 with temperatures reaching 90 degrees in the desert.

Djokovic won 9 straight games until 31st-seeded Gulbis holding the only serve game in the fourth game of the second set. Djokovic, championof 2008, again broke Gulbis in the seventh game before serving out to seal the win. Djokovic’s 22-year-old opponent failed to convert anyone of the breakpoint throughout the 54 minutes match. Djokovic will next face 16th-seeded partner and compatriot Viktor Troicki, who eliminated 24th-seeded Frenchman Michael Llodra 6-3 6-3.

World number two Roger Federer, who was chasing the fourth title here, breezed past Argentine 31-year-old Juan Ignacio Chela 6-0 6-2 in 58 mintues. Federer has a 16-2 result this year, and he attributed his victory to staying aggressive in the entire match. R Harrison will be Federer’s opponent in the quarterfinal.
