Caroline Wozniacki advances Dubai final

WTA, Dubai, Wozniacki ,finalCaroline Wozniacki, who will return to the WTA NO.1 Monday overtaking Kim Clijsters , reached the final of Dubai Championships by beating Jelena Jankovic 7-5, 6-3 for the first time in their five head-to-head meetings.

The sixth-seeded Serbian Jankovic had made the more positive start, breaking Wozniacki's serve to love as she built up a 3-0 advantage and then holding off two break points when leading 4-2. However, Jankovic missed four set points as she led 5-3, 40-0, and hit long to drop serve.

In the second set, Wozniacki settled into long rallies to wear down Jankovic who had been pushed to three sets in her two previous matches. After Wozniacki broke for 3-2, Jankovic asked for a medical timeout for a blister on her left foot. The Serb returned to break back with a low concentration in the last two games.

The top seed finally battled her way into her first final of the year 7-5, 6-3. The Dane will face the winner of Saturday's other semi-final Svetlana Kuznetsova, who defeated seed No.11 Flavia Pennetta 6-4 6-4.
